Glasspomodoro is a native Mac alternative to browser timers like Pomofocus and heavier apps like Be Focused. It gives you one clean timer window, flexible intervals, and fast controls.

I made Glasspomodoro because I was tired of keeping a Pomodoro timer in a browser tab. I wanted one appealing Mac window that stayed out of the way, let me set my own focus rhythm, and did not turn into a whole productivity dashboard.
What it actually does
Space, skip with
Command-Right Arrow, reset the stage or cycle, and resize the window from the keyboard.Browser Pomodoro tools are convenient, but they still live in the same place as tabs, notifications, and everything else competing for your attention. If you are already trying to focus, that is not a great place to keep your timer.
Glasspomodoro keeps the timer in its own Mac window. You open it, set the rhythm you want, and leave it there. No account, no tab management, no task list you did not ask for.
| Feature | Glasspomodoro | Pomofocus |
|---|---|---|
| Native Mac app window | ✅ | ❌ Browser-first |
| Custom focus and break lengths | ✅ | ✅ |
| Window size presets | ✅ | ❌ |
| Keyboard shortcuts for timer controls | ✅ | ⚠️ Limited by the browser |
| Stage and full-cycle progress | ✅ | ⚠️ Basic web UI |
| Separate from tabs and web distractions | ✅ | ❌ |
Be Focused is a real Mac Pomodoro app, but it also leans further into task tracking and productivity management. Glasspomodoro goes in the other direction.
If you want a timer that opens fast, stays readable, and lets you tune the interval structure without adding more planning overhead, that is the point of Glasspomodoro. It is for people who want a Pomodoro timer, not a productivity system.
Glasspomodoro makes sense if you like the Pomodoro method but do not want to keep your timer in a tab, on your phone, or inside a larger app full of tasks, reports, and habit mechanics. It is especially good if you want one timer window that you can resize, style, and control quickly from the keyboard.
Is Glasspomodoro a Pomofocus alternative?
Yes. Glasspomodoro is a native Mac alternative for
people who like Pomodoro timers but do not want to keep them in the browser.
Can I customize the intervals?
Yes. You can change focus minutes, short breaks, long breaks,
rounds per cycle, and whether breaks or the next Pomodoro auto-start.
Does it support notifications and sounds?
Yes. You can enable notifications and customize
click, ticking, and completion sounds separately.
